Loanio, a site similar to Prosper is up and running.  Lenders and borrowers may want to check it out.

This was already mentioned and had some discussion in the general finance section. I thought about trying to move/ remove one or the other threads but decided that many Prosper users may not read the non-Prosper specific sections and so to leave the discussion in both places.

The previous thread is here

I am eager to hear feedback on Loanio. Competition usually brings out the best for all involved and may speed improvements that may otherwise take much longer.

Time will tell.

That woul dbe my hope. From what I have seen I would be interested in lending on Loanio until they have some experience. I'd rather stay witht he devil I know than the one I don't. What I would hope for is that prosper gets pushed into some improvements before that happens.

What I would hope for is that prosper gets pushed into some improvements before that happens.

By the way, recent addition of FDIC insurance on prosper bank accounts could be exactly this, since Loanio had it.
