It is fairly low risk. Prosper figures 4.8%.

I get 3.6 (see below) but then add 2 points for the one past PR = about 6%. Taking the DTI of 39% into and out of it does not seem to make much difference.

Bidding right about the 16% he is listed at should give about a 10% ROI but I would not go much lower. Since it is probably somewhere between about 5 and 15% you are already at risk of being better of with a CD (but probbaly not).

statistics aside, i didn't bid because i don't like his priorities. he's broke and he's going to borrow money to buy his daughter a $20k beemer? one of my kids has one but he makes $150k a year! i know, not supposed to moralize on these things but sometimes they just slap you in the face.

Good point - the same thing had occurred to me (I noted the price but missed that it was a Beemer). I drive a Toyota that is not much more expensive.
